Septum piercings go through the thinnest/softest part on the inside of the nose, usually called a “sweet spot”. It’s helpful as a piercer to find your specific sweet spot multiple times in a row to get a feel for how your tissue moves and reacts before actually doing the piercing. I personally use the flat end of a toothpick to find the softest spot inside the nose, and this is to help explain the placement for you. The flat toothpick is used as a guide to feel for the thinnest amount of tissue
