During their 1977 North American Tour, Led Zeppelin performed "The Battle of Evermore" live for the first and only tour in their history. In these performances, including the notable show at the Seattle Kingdome on July 17, 1977, the backing vocals (originally sung by Sandy Denny on the studio track) were performed by John Paul Jones. On some dates, John Bonham also assisted with backing vocals for this track. To replicate the acoustic feel of the song, Jimmy Page played the mandolin while John
