Multiculturalism is one of the great successes of modern Australia. In 2024, the Australian Government released the Multicultural Framework Review report - the first major examination of the state of Australian multiculturalism in a generation. As part of this review, the panel recommended that a national plan be established to celebrate multiculturalism, including Harmony Week, and to formally observe the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March.
