President Donald Trump will read a piece of Old Testament scripture during the week-long America Reads the Bible event.

One day after he posted — then deleted — an image comparing himself to Jesus Christ, President Donald Trump sat at his desk in the Oval Office and read from the Bible directly to a camera.

The Bible is “indelibly woven into our national identity and way of life,” Trump said in a statement commemorating the event.
